The Makings of a Leader series is definitely timely, held to commemorate and in conjunction with SUSS Alumni Relations’ 15th Anniversary. Upon completion of the four complimentary webinars, it is pleasing to know that participants will receive an e-Certificate of Participation.
The first module ‘Leading Self’ was held on 6 March 2021, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. In this module, we learnt essential leadership skills – what it takes to lead the Self and how we can turn our talents into strengths, as well as how to set effective goals at work. The trainer, Mr Lim Poh Guan is the Managing Consultant of the Leadership Performance Group, a firm specialising in Leadership Development. Besides his invaluable experience as Senior Vice President of Talent & Organization Development at UOB Bank, he has also worked with numerous companies across the Asia-Pacific region to design and deliver leadership development, talent management and change management programmes. We are fortunate to learn from the very best!
The two-hour session was lively, engaging and interactive with a total of 37 enthusiastic participants. There were fun and delightful warm-up activities and games with attractive prizes, motivating every participant to enthusiastically join in. Alumna Ms Eunice Choa (Class of 2017, BSc Logistics and Supply Chain Management), was the first prize winner.
Besides being empowered in effective leadership, I have experienced an insightful and knowledgeable session. Not only were the participants discovering their own talents, they also learnt various innovative strategies to turn their talents into strengths and equip themselves with essential leadership skills for their future.
In all, with the first stepping stone of self-awareness in effective leadership laid, participants at SUSS Alumni Relations’ Makings of a Leader series are on their exciting boundless journey to create opportunities that play to their strengths, to be great leaders! We are all looking forward to the up-coming sessions and are grateful to SUSS Alumni Relations for curating this series as part of the slew of 15th Anniversary events for alumni.
