As renowned and influential artist Pablo Picasso once said, “Art washes away from the soul, the dust of everyday life”. That was precisely the vibe and ambience at Lionheart Studio on 2 November 2019 as over 20 participants gathered at the first ever SUSS Alumni Canvas Art Jamming Session.
It was a relaxing and therapeutic morning for the participants as they got to channel and unleash their inner artist in creating a truly personal and memorable work of art, one which encapsulated each painter’s effort and concentration, which added to the overall satisfaction. Never mind the fact that for most participants it was their virgin canvas art jamming experience, the main take away from the overall experience was that of gaining confidence and overcoming the initial fear and intimidation when faced with unfamiliarity. Not all of us are gifted with artistic flair and it is by no means the only determinant in producing a piece of artwork. Throughout the session, the instructors offered not only words of encouragement but were also more than willing to guide participants with advice ranging from colour combinations to blending techniques, amongst others.
What was amazing is that we all got to forget about the stresses of our daily lives and spent some time letting our imagination run wild, thinking outside the box and really just getting a breather from the fast-paced society we all live in and taking things slowly for a change! I am sure I speak for all participants when I say that the session has been a success and at the end of it all, everyone went home with their personal masterpieces, crafted with lots of love and determination. If there was one thing that participants crave, it’s definitely having more time perfecting their masterpieces!
